Things Japanese: Celebrating 150 Years

The museum is honoring the 150th Anniversary of Japan open her doors to cultural & economic trade. Japanese objects flooded the West and caused for all thingss Japanese. The exhibit features examples of some of the type of items that fostered the craze which influenced fashion, theater, advertising, decorative arts, & landscape design. Objects to be exhibited include a fabulous collection of woodblock prits depicting Japanese elements of the entertainment districts & marches of the shoguns; a painted screen; a child's kimono; metal objects; fans; lacquer work; netsuke. The exhibit will continue until October 15, 2008.

Free balance screening for the entire month of May. A brief consultation following screen and Fall Prevention and Home Safety Education will be provided.

A collection of fascinating original science fiction and fantasy paiantings and prints are on exhibit thru the 18th along with various related collectibles. The artist, Romas Dukalis, has enjoyed a highly successful career as a professional illustrator. A sco-fi show like this has never been done in the Monadnock Region.

If you have ever been effected by Breast Cancer in any way, come by and help us raise money for a great cause. The walkers and volunteers will be hosting the bake sale, selling plants, carnations and breast cancer merchandise. They will also be accepting donations and have door prizes. Proceeds of above merchandise go to Breast Cancer 3 Day. Monadnock Region Crafters and vendors present quality items for sale. Vendors still needed. $10 for card table and $20 for 8 foot table.

The Monadnock Humane Society is hosting its 1st annual Kitten shower for the many anticipated arrivals this spring! We need your help in making this a success. Come join us on Saturday May 10th for a fun afternoon with our furry friends. You can pick up a list of our registry items at the front desk or take a wish list item from our kitten tree.
